This is the official history from the Air Force on the airplane. The first section was from its WWII days and the second starts when it was converted in 65 to a K model.
This manual was the official study guide for pilots in the airplane during WWII. It is interesting from the historical standpoint, but many of the numbers changed with the conversion to the K model. There are some helpful bits of info though on the operation of many of the systems.
